Emollient Satisfaction Questionnaire

The Emollient Satisfaction Questionnaire is a 7 item self-complete scale designed to capture user satisfaction with their emollient or moisturiser (with two addition items about overall emollient satisfaction and intention for continued use of that emollient):

It was originally developed by Matthew Ridd and for use in the COMET study although the intention was to make it relevant for other populations, conditions and settings, for example in routine clinical care.  It has subsequently been used in the BEE study.

A total scaled emollient satisfaction score is calculated by summing the individual scores (0–4) of Questions 1–7. Only participants who complete all seven questions (no ‘don't know’ responses) are included in total score. Therefore, total scaled emollient satisfaction scores range from 0 to 28 (low to high satisfaction).

It is freely available for non-commercial use, as long as the paper by Rowley et al (2022) is cited.
