Applications are invited for a 24-month National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) School for Primary Care Research (SPCR) post-doctoral fellowship from individuals with a strong academic record who wish to develop a career in primary care research.
The goal of these fellowships is for the fellow to conduct an independent research project, publish papers from their PhD, write grant applications to secure future funding (e.g. an NIHR fellowship). The fellowships are expected to start April 2023.
The award may be based in any of the nine universities within the NIHR School for Primary Care Research: Bristol, Cambridge, Keele, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford, Southampton and University College London. Applicants do not need to be based at one of the nine member universities to apply but would need to plan to take up the award at one of these universities. This means findings advisors for this award within these universities and, if successful, joining their advisor's team at one of these universities to take up the award.
Applicants must have experience of research in primary care or a closely related field of medicine. Applicants will have obtained their research doctorate or submitted their PhD or MD thesis for examination. The SPCR particularly welcomes applications from allied health professionals.
The total award will be £145K. This covers an approximate salary of £37K pa for two years (dependent on previous experience), some training and research costs, PPIE costs and some costs for institutional overheads.
All applicants must ensure that their proposed research project is compatible with the NIHR remit.
