Academic Clinical Fellow posts 2013

31 October 2012

Applications for 2 Academic Clinical Fellow posts in the Centre for Academic Primary Care, University of Bristol, are invited.

2 posts (1 NIHR and 1 locally funded).  Research & Education.

Applications are invited for this is a 4 year integrated clinical academic programme.

The first 2 years comprise 18 months in hospital posts and 6 months in a local practice.  Trainees are encouraged to attend relevant meetings, courses and conferences and to identify methodological and subject areas of interest. In the first two years they will have an academic supervisor from the Centre as well as their clinical and educational supervisors.

In years 3 and 4, the time is split flexibly 50/50 between the Centre and the practice. Their academic and educational supervisors will ensure that they have realistic goals and the means to achieve them, especially the MRCGP. There is the possibility of doing a taught Masters by distance learning or face to face. It is also possible to attend local individual courses to obtain specific methodological skills. Undertaking a project that will result in publications is strongly encouraged.

Trainees can specialise in either research or education, the latter being supported to take the TLHP up to Diploma level. The ultimate aim is to prepare a higher degree application. All trainees will be members of the Clinical Academic Training school at the Severn Deanery  as well as the Primary Care school.
