Measure development and adaptation

Overview

  • We are the home of the ICECAP capability measures. The ICECAP measures aim to capture outcomes beyond health and have been recommended by multiple national bodies across different countries as suitable alternatives to measures like EQ-5D in the economic evaluation of health and care interventions. ICECAP measures are now available across the life course: from children and young people, adults, older adults and those near the end of life. They offer an alternative or complement to health outcome measures.
  • We are research leaders in developing outcome measures using qualitative research methods. Current projects include the development of ICECAP measures for children and young people
  • We also have experience in adapting existing outcome measures. We have adapted measures for them to be more appropriate for different languages, cultures and specific patient populations (e.g. dementia).
