Professor Bob Evans is to be awarded the 2014 European Physical Society Liquid Matter Prize in July 2014.

Professor Bob Evans of the Theoretical Physics Groupwill receive the 2014 prize "for seminal works applying density functional theory to the statistical mechanics of liquid matter, including highly original and lasting contributions to understanding interfaces and phenomena such as criticality, wetting, capillarity, and phase transitions of simple and complex fluids".

The prize will be presented at the ninth European Physical Society (EPS) Liquid Matter Conference, to be held 21-25 July 2014 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Previous prize winners were J-P Hansen (2005), HNW Lekkerkerker and PN Pusey (2008), and D Chandler (2011).
