Learning Outcomes

On watching this video, students should be able to:

  1. Interpret frequency and bar plots and identify when they are used.
  2. Generate and interpret contingency tables for exploring the relationship between two categorical variables and justify whether to use row or column percentages to show these associations.
  3. Identify situation when side by side plots (eg, histograms, box plots) can be used to summarise the distributions of numerical variables by groups or levels of a categorical variables.
  4. Explain the idea of independence between two variables.
