The Schools celebrated their new partnership in a US Alumni Gathering on 4 March 2025 at Cardozo School of Law, which included a keynote talk given by Bristol's Professor Sarah Green: 'The Good, the Bad and the Digital: How to Make Sense of Crypto Assets'.
We caught up with Professor Kelly to ask about the trip and how the Memorandum of Understanding signed last year offers new partnerships and opportunities including research collaborations, academic exchanges and student experiences.
Tell us about the partnership with Cardozo! What are you most excited about?
We're excited to be partnering with Cardozo School of Law, a leading global law school, and to be establishing a presence in North America and in New York where so many of our students set out to further their careers.
This international partnership promises to drive innovative research and curriculum development, enhancing and diversifying opportunities for both our academic and student communities. Cardozo Law School’s global reputation for academic excellence and its forward-thinking approach to legal education make it an ideal partner.
The two law schools are committed to community engagement, to excellence in scholarship and to developing students who are outstanding legal scholars and well equipped to be change makers in their fields.
How will students benefit from the partnership?
Our partnership will offer a hub for engagement for Bristol students and alumni participating in the student exchange or otherwise embarking on their careers in New York, providing them with a contact point and networks in one of the world's global legal and banking centres.
Cardozo School of Law will also offer a substantially reduced fee, or scholarship, of 50% off for LLM programmes for University of Bristol graduates. We're also working on a student exchange programme with Cardozo at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
What are the opportunities for academics?
The partnership will also offer academic exchanges and research collaborations. We’re excited about the opportunities it will provide for academics to undertake periods of research fellowships at the Cardozo School of Law to engage, collaborate, and widen their research networks.
