Law Clinic event raises money for CLIC Sargent

On 28 March the University of Bristol Law Clinic Student Committee hosted a charity pub quiz and raffle to raise money for CLIC Sargent. In attendance were students from a variety of degree programmes, two trainees from Osborne Clarke, and many Law Clinic members. In this event report, Susie Burley, the Law Clinic's Outreach Manager, writes about the partnership between the Law Clinic and CLIC Sargent and gives an account of the evening's success.

CLIC Sargent is a nationwide charity who provide support to young cancer patients and their families following diagnosis. Their promise is to limit the damage cancer causes beyond the health effects. The service they provide to families is invaluable, ensuring that families have a place to stay during their child’s course of treatment.

Working alongside CLIC Sargent, the University of Bristol Law Clinic provides free legal advice to affected families during their most challenging circumstances. Our drop-in sessions provide an opportunity to discuss the problems they are facing and follow up with assistance and legal advice. The team of students aim to support families during this difficult time and make their day-to-day life just that little bit easier.

The evening was hosted at Zero Degrees and included welcome drinks and pizza for all. There was a large turn out at the venue and everyone had a fantastic time, while generously donating to CLIC Sargent.

The event began with a pub quiz which included rounds on pop culture and Bristol trivia and concluded with the raffle prizes being drawn. There were lots of lucky winners who walked away with some amazing prizes that night.

In total, the raffle raised a grand sum of £455! This is an incredible amount and the Law Clinic, along with CLIC Sargent are extremely grateful to everyone who purchased raffle tickets!
