Press release issued: 20 November 2018

The Law School’s Professor Eirik Bjorge has been awarded the prestigious three-year role of Academic Fellow of the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple, as part of the Inner Temple's Academic Fellows Scheme aimed at recognising outstanding academic contributions and bringing together legal practitioners and academics.

The Inner Temple has announced that Professor Eirik Bjorge is one of four academics appointed as Inner Temple Academic Fellows, alongside Dr Christine Bicknell (University of Exeter), Dr Carmen Draghici (City, University of London) and Dr Andy Hayward (Durham University).

The Inner Temple’s Academic Fellows Scheme sets out to “recognise the outstanding contribution of legal teaching and research of early to mid-career academics", as well as aiming to "support their research and to build a stronger relationship between the Bar, judiciary and legal academia.”

Commenting on his appointment, Eirik said:

"I am particularly proud to be associated with the one of the Inns of Court that takes outreach and widening access to the Bar the most seriously. I greatly look forward to being a part of Inner Temple and to contributing in a small way to reinforcing the relationship between our University and the Bar."

The Inner Temple works closely with UK universities to enable information on the legal profession to aspiring students, including information on its programme set up to support aspiring barristers from non-traditional and underrepresented backgrounds, the Pegasus Access and Support Scheme (PASS).
