Academics from the University of Bristol Law School continue to share knowledge, debate and listen to opinion at a national, regional and local level.

•  Bristol City Region Brexit Assembly

27 September 2018: Professor Phil Syrpis participated in a breakfast panel event as part of the Bristol City Region Brexit Assembly. The Law School is an official partner of the Bristol City Region Brexit Assembly, a 12 month-long series of events and debates that are focused on the impact of Brexit on businesses in the Bristol region.

•  Brexit: its Effects on Labour Law Nationally and Transnationally

4 October 2018: Professor Tonia Novitz gave a presentation on the consequences of Brexit at the Congressi Internacional on ‘Law Inegracion Social Euopea’ held at the Universidad Publica de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain.

•  The EEA: Iceberg or Lifeboat?

14 November 2018: Professor Eirik Bjorge participated on a panel at the Centre for European Law, King's College London, together with Antoinette Sandbach MP and chaired by Professor Carl Baudenbacher, commenting on a talk given by Professor Mads Andenas. The lecture, entitled "The EEA: Iceberg or Lifeboat?", explored the prospects and utility of a Norway model for the UK after Brexit, and made the case that should the UK and EU envisage British EEA/EFTA membership, then Norway, Liechtenstein, and Iceland will agree to it. 

•  Fundamental Rights at Work

28 November 2018: Professor Tonia Novitz presented a paper entitled “‘The right to have rights’ – a reminder of what the EU offers regarding remedies and what is available otherwise” at an International Colloquium on Fundamental Rights at Work, held at the University of Aarhus, Denmark.

•  BBC Newsnight Interview

30 November 2018: Dr Clair Gammage provided expertise on EU trade law in an interview with BBC Newsnight, commenting on negotiating new trade deals post-Brexit.

•  Brexit is a treaty problem and Parliament may hold the key to solving it

13 December 2018: Professor Eirik Bjorge appeared in Parliament together with co-authors Arabella Lang (Library of the House of Commons) and Ewan Smith (Jesus College, Oxford) to give a presentation called 'Treaties and Brexit', as well as making a submission regarding treaty scrutiny to the House of Lords Constitution Committee, together with Jill Barrett (Queen Mary).

•  Bristol City Region Brexit Assembly

Professor Tonia Novitz will be participating on the panel of the second Bristol City Region Brexit Assembly, which will take place on 31 January 2019, 8 – 9.30 AM, in the Lady Hale Moot Court. The event’s focus will be Brexit: Business of people or The Post-Brexit Work Force (themes to be confirmed).
