Student News: Forthcoming Careers Activities

5 May 2016

Lara Melhuish is based in the University’s Careers Service and is the Faculty Employability Consultant working in partnership with the Faculty of Social Sciences & Law. Her role is to develop and deliver targeted activities for Law School students. Here, she provides information about forthcoming events, careers blogs and advice about what to do over the long summer break to increase your employability.

Events at the Careers Service

There are still events taking place at the Careers Service before the end of term, so if you want to get ahead for next year’s recruitment process, or find an opportunity for this summer, have a look at our website and a taster of the events include:

  • How to write an effective CV (Quickfix) – 10/05/2016 (3-3.30pm)
  • Practice your interview skills (Group Session) – 11/05/2016 (10-11am)
  • Networking and creative job hunting (Quickfix) – 12/05/2016 (11-11.30am)

Make the most of your summer break!

Now that the end of the academic year is fast approaching, have you considered how to make the most of your long summer break? Summer can be a great time to help you with your careers and employability journey and to develop skills, gain some work experience and explore options post-University.

If you want to make the most of this time, take a look at a blog I wrote with ideas for the Christmas break, but it’s equally as relevant for this time of year.
