Christy Rush, LLM International Studies (2015)

Press release issued: 23 March 2016

Our new LLM in International Law and International Relations, is an exciting new course for those looking for a career within international NGOs, government departments, global firms, or as international consultants.

New this year, the LLM in International Law and International Relations is a specialist course that enables you to combine units provided by both the Law School and the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies to create an exceptional programme of study.

The LLM in International Law and International Relations encourages an integrated theoretical and interdisciplinary approach to issues of international regulation and governance so you can build a deep understanding of how one discipline informs the other. The programme covers general methods, scope and theories of International Law and International Relations and allows for further specialisation within these broad fields.

University of Bristol is a top 5 university for research excellence. The Law School is also home to the Human Rights Implementation Centre.

In the current climate you need to make your CV stand out. One of my professors is Chair of the UN Sub-Committee on Torture, and another works regularly on the African Commission of Human Rights. Working for the Human Rights Implementation Centre means applying the skills you have learned in the academic environment to real life research with NGOs. A post-graduate degree from Bristol is extremely good.” Christy Rush, Postgraduate student.

On graduating, Christy worked in the Human Rights Directorate at the Council of Europe before securing an internship in the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva where he is today.
