The event was particularly insightful for new mooters and kick started with a drinks reception and an opportunity to network with members of the UBLC committee and trainees from Herbert Smith Freehills.
Adam Johnson, a partner of Herbert Smith Freehills, provided an informative talk that focused on niche tips and advice, useful for mooters of all experiences.
Examples such as how to address a judge and how to present one’s arguments in a succinct and effective manner were discussed with great depth, emphasising the professional aspects of mooting.
Georgia Tetlow, a Mistress of the Moot at the Law School, attended the event;
“The talk was a huge success, and Adam’s experience with litigation and advocacy made it all the more engaging and valuable. It was a wonderful evening to network with our sponsors and to learn key skills that every aspiring advocate wishes to accumulate in their early careers.”
On departure, students were provided with ‘How to Win a Moot’ brochures, capturing the hints, tips and advice provided in the session.
