Mr Justice Green and Mr Justice Newey to judge final of Law School’s one-day intervarsity mooting competition

10 February 2016

The Law School will host its third one-day intervarsity mooting competition on Saturday February 13, where the final will be judged by Mr Justice Green and Mr Justice Newey of the High Court.

Sixteen teams from competing universities from across the country are expected to compete in the knock-out style competition, which will involve four rounds over the course of the day, including the final. The judging panel will comprise members of the local legal profession and Law academics, with Mr Justice Green and Mr Justice Newey presiding over the final.

The event is generously sponsored by LexisNexis. Additional sponsorship has also been provided by the leading global law firm, Simmons & Simmons and the University of Bristol Law School.

The final is open to spectators and will take place in the Reception Room, Wills Memorial Building. The organisers ask for spectators to be seated by 3.45pm, for a 4pm start. The event will be followed by a drinks reception, where there will be an opportunity to meet judges, legal professionals and representatives from our sponsors, as well as staff and students from the School of Law.

The Law School's Mooting Academic Advisor, Sofia Galani, said 'Following the success of last year's intervarsity competition that was judged by Lady Justice Sharp, the University of Bristol Law Club has made a name for itself as host for high quality national competitions. We are grateful for the support by our generous sponsors and, of course, Mr Justice Green and Mr Justice Newey. At Bristol, we all look forward to opening the doors of our iconic Wills Memorial Building and welcoming all the students and spectators that share a passion for mooting. Good luck to all the teams and may the best team win!'
