Mayor of Bristol to attend Ten Years Community Interest Company Anniversary Celebration

The Law School is delighted to welcome George Ferguson, the Mayor of Bristol, on 16 July for the Ten Years Community Interest Company Anniversary Celebration. Further key speakers include Sara Burgess, Regulator of Community Interest Companies, and Professor Wendy Larner, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law.

The Community Interest Company (CIC) was introduced in 2005, offering social enterprises an adaptable corporate legal form to structure their business in accordance with their social, environmental and economic objectives. This event brings together social entrepreneurs, practitioners, academics and public experts to reflect on the successes as well as ongoing challenges of the pioneering CIC format, in particular on issues of investment, accounting, governance and public service commissioning.
