Anyone who has been involved with a legal issue will know that they do not just occur during term time or outside the exam period. Moreover, just because a student is unavailable does not mean that a case or client will wait. In order to ensure that the law clinic provides a year round service to clients, the Law School is introducing funded summer internships, generously supported by alumni donations. Internships are a widely recognised way in which students can gain valuable work experience while funding support ensures that these opportunities are not just open to those with the capacity to support themselves. We are immensely grateful to our alumni for enabling us to fund three student interns, Alice Mitchell, Yunzhe Zhang and Georgina Evison (each working for four weeks), over the summer period. This has allowed us to keep the Clinic open and respond to new enquiries.
Also, from the academic year 2015/16, the Law School will be running a new Law Clinic module enabling students to volunteer for clinic work while simultaneously studying wider aspects of legal practice.
