As part of its ongoing work with the African human rights system the HRIC will be participating in the 56th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights to be held in the Gambia between 21 April and 7 May 2015. In particular, Debra Long will be attending a meeting with the African Commission's Committee for the Prevention of Torture in Africa to discuss their proposal to develop a General Comment on Article 5 of the African Charter, which prohibits torture and other ill-treatment.
