In March 2015 the University of Exeter, the University of Bristol and the Criminal Justice Centre at Queen Mary, University of London hosted an Experts Meeting to discuss the electric-shock weapon the TASER™ in the UK. The event was funded by the ESRC via the South West Doctoral Training Centre and attended by a wide range of stakeholders including representatives from ACPO, the College of Policing and the Home Office; NGOs; lawyers representing individuals subject to TASER; the IPCC; academics working on use of force issues; TASER trainers and Single Points of Contact; DSTL and SACMILL; the Police Federation and industry representatives.
