The University of Bristol Law School is a member of the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) South, West and Wales Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). The DTP is offering 50 fully-funded PhD studentships for entry in September 2014.
Competition for studentships will be fierce. As a minimum though, applicants should normally have achieved at least a 2:1 or equivalent in law and be able to demonstrate the highest potential for research. This may be through a master’s qualification – completed or currently underway – or through alternative evidence of aptitude for research. The studentship will cover a stipend at the standard Research Council rate, currently £13,726 per annum for 2013-2014, and tuition fees at the UK/EU rate for students who meet the residency requirements outlined by the AHRC. Online applications are welcomed until 21 February 2014.
Consortium specialisms within law include Human Rights, Public, European and International Law, Religion and Legal History. This said, applications are encouraged more widely in the areas of study recognised by the AHRC (See http://www.ahrc.ac.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/Research-Funding-Guide.pdf (esp at page 108)).
