Professor Celia Wells has been invited to speak at the International Conference on International Strategies Against Corruption: Public-Private Partnership and Criminal Policy, which will be held at Courmayeur Mont Blanc, Italy from the 14th to the 16th of December. She will join a panel of experts to discuss the role of compliance programs in domestic criminal law systems.

The conference is organised by International Scientific and Professional Advisory Council of the United Nations Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Programme (ISPAC), in co-operation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime-UNODC, Vienna. It will focus on the analysis of the role of the public and private actors in criminal policy responses against political, administrative and economic corruption. In particular, the object of the conference consists of discussing compliances’ rules adopted by national and international corporations in order to tackle bribery, as well as its relevance in domestic criminal law systems.

The conference provides the occasion to present the results of a major research project, conducted by ISPAC under the supervision of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime- UNODC and with the participation and support of ENI. The main object of the research is the assessment of an Anti-Bribery Compliance Model. Its adoption should be recommended to multinational companies and at the same time, states will be invited to assign relevance to it, when assessing the liability of corporations or when determining sentencing.
