Professor Malcolm Evans re-appointed to UN Subcommittee for the Prevention of Torture

On 25 October Professor Malcolm Evans, OBE, was re-elected as a Member of the United Nations Sub-committee for the Prevention of Torture (SPT). Professor Evans is currently Chair of the SPT, and has served in that capacity since February 2011.

On 25 October Professor Malcolm Evans, OBE, was re-elected as a Member of the United Nations Sub-committee for the Prevention of Torture (SPT). Professor Evans is currently Chair of the SPT, and has served in that capacity since February 2011. His reappointment, through these recent elections, will see the renewal of his mandate as a Sub-committee Member from the 1 January 2013, for a duration of four years.

 

The SPT is a 25 Member Committee of experts that is mandated under the Optional Protocol to the Convention for the Prevention of Torture (OPCAT). Further details of the SPT, its Annual Reports and details of the elections are available from the OPCAT website.
