Steven Vaughan appointed chair of the Joint Academic Stage Board

Steven Vaughan, lecturer at the University of Bristol Law School, has been appointed chair of the Joint Academic Stage Board (JASB) from 1 September. The JASB validates qualifying law degrees on behalf of the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board.

Steven Vaughan, lecturer at the University of Bristol Law School has been appointed chair of the Joint Academic Stage Board (JASB) from 1 September 2012.

The Joint Academic Stage Board is a joint committee of the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority. It is responsible for the setting and implementation of policies in respect of the Academic Stage of Training for qualification as a Solicitor or Barrister. In particular, it is responsible for the validation and review of Qualifying Law Degrees and Common Professional Examination/Graduate Diploma in Law courses for the purpose of completion of the Academic Stage.

Management of the JASB alternates between the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority, on a three year cycle.
