Dr Elina Steinerte  of the Human Rights Implementation Centre returned to Ashgabat (Turkmenistan) for the third time in April 2011. She was once again asked to act in the capacity of international expert by the United Nations Development Program (UNPD) in Turkmenistan.  Dr Steinerte designed and carried out a two-day workshop in Ashgabat aimed at assisting the Turkmen authorities in their preparations for the forthcoming examination of the initial report of Turkmenistan under the UN Convention against Torture by the UN Committee against Torture. This was the third set of workshops carried out by Dr Steinerte within the framework of the EU/UNDP/OHCHR joint project "Strengthening the national capacity of Turkmenistan to promote and protect human rights."
