Travel Delays due to volcanic ash: information about teaching/classes

19 April 2010

Travel problems caused by ash from the Icelandic volcano will impact on teaching at the start of term.

Travel problems caused by ash from the Icelandic volcano are having some impact on teaching at the start of term.  Several members of staff and many students are currently stranded overseas because they are unable to travel back to the United Kingdom.

As a result, some classes will be postponed until members of staff return. All members of staff have been asked to record lectures and other classes.  Also, depending on other commitments, staff have been asked to consider re-scheduling classes, particularly revision classes, so that they take place after the current travel restrictions have been lifted.

If classes go ahead while students are still stranded abroad, it is intended that students will be able to catch up either through recordings or further classes.
