Professor McMeel participates in research project on the Draft Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) for European private law

Professor Gerard McMeel is participating in an Anglo-German research project on the Draft Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) for European private law, examining the interaction of the DCFR principles and rules and the national legal environments.

Professor Gerard McMeel is participating in an Anglo-German research project on the Draft Common Frame of Reference (DCFR) for European private law, examining the interaction of the DCFR principles and rules and the national legal environments. He will be responsible for co-authoring (with Professor Christoph Grigoleit of Regensburg) a paper on the “interpretation of contracts” and the interface between the DCFR, English law and German law. The project is jointly organised by Institute of European and Comparative Law at the University of Oxford and Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin, led by Professor Stefan Vogenauer and Professor Gerhard Dannemann, and is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Deutsche Forshungsgemeinschaft. The project will take place over 2010 to 2011, with the first workshop scheduled to take place in Berlin in January 2010.
