Dr Kate Allen is a specialist in equine sports medicine. Her research interest is primarily the management of diseases that affect athletic performance and in particular the diagnosis, cause and management of dynamic upper respiratory tract obstructions. Kate was instrumental in the development of overground endoscopy which is a technique used to image the upper airway during exercise that is in widespread use internationally. Kate collaborates with sports medicine clinicians and exercise physiologists in human athletics to translate clinical research to the horse. Her current research focus is assessing the respiratory musculature of the horse.
