Ask JGI is recruiting Data Science Support!

Are you a PhD student with experience in statistics, data science or programming? The Jean Golding Institute for data science and data intensive research offers a data science/statistics consultancy to researchers via its Ask JGI service. We are now recruiting PhD students for our 2024-2025 cohort!

We are particularly interested in data savvy applicants from across all faculties and schools. We work with researchers across all disciplines, so a variety of context knowledge across the Ask JGI team is just as important as specific data science and programming skills (e.g. R, Python, MATLAB, SPSS, NVivo or GIS).

Opportunity

  • Get experience working outside of your immediate subject – applying statistics, programming, machine learning, data visualisation and experimental method design to queries from researchers across almost every faculty and school at UoB.
  • This is a paid opportunity at Graduate Teacher - Level 1 for PhD students.
  • Expected start date is Monday 7th October 2024, working ad-hoc approximately 5-10 hours per month for 12 months.

Application

Apply online on the Jean Golding Institute website (deadline: Sunday 11th August 2024).

Find out about previous PhD students who have worked in the role on our blog.

The JGI aims to make data science and statistics expertise accessible to all. Applicants from communities traditionally under-represented in data science are strongly encouraged to apply.

If you have any questions about the role, email jgi-admin@bristol.ac.uk with the email subject “Ask JGI Recruiting”.
