About Us

The Jean Golding Institute is a central hub for data science and data-intensive research at the University of Bristol.

Founded in 2016 and one of the five University Research Institutes, the JGI connects a multidisciplinary community of experts across the University and beyond. 

The JGI creates an environment where novel data-intensive research areas are explored and developed, and interdisciplinary exchanges promote a spirit of collaboration in order to enhance research outputs and impact.  

The Institute is named after renowned Emeritus Professor, Jean Golding, a mathematician, epidemiologist and founder of the Children of the 90s cohort study.
