The Beauty of Data competition 2019
For its third year, the Jean Golding Institute invited staff and students at the University to submit their finest data visualisations.
The prize for the winner included £100 in prize money and the opportunity to take part in the Data Visualisation Symposium at the Alan Turing Institute in London on 13 September 2019.
The winners and runners-up were awarded as follows:
Winner
- Vincent Cheng, Population Health Sciences, Bristol Medical School with ‘Automated Forward Citation Snowballing using Google Scholar and Machine Learning’

- Chris Moreno-Stokoe, PhD student, Psychology with ‘History appears to have repeated itself with unsubstantiated claims about the effects of bilingualism’
- Valeriia Haberland, MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit, Bristol Medical School, with ‘From a data space to knowledge discovery’
