Our research is focused on the role and behaviour of water in the environment and the ways in which it both responds to and reflects environmental change, past present and future.
Large scale flood and drought risk modelling
Through numerical modelling at national to global scales, we aim to understand past, present and future flood and drought risk, and provide solutions to enhance resilience to future extreme events.
Biogeochemistry of freshwater catchments
Through advanced field and laboratory techniques, including monitoring, experimental and modelling approaches, we investigate the origins, cycling and impacts of major elements, plastics and other contaminant flows in freshwater and terrestrial environments
