How mentoring can benefit you

Our mentors have studied your degree and are using it in their job. This means they have been where you are now and can offer invaluable support and advice.

Mentors can offer new perspectives on possible career options and help you to consider your studies in the context of the wider world.

We recruit mentors from across the globe so whether you are a home or international student you will have the opportunity to gain specialist UK or international job market insight.

In addition to my mentor’s guidance, the design of the scheme has also helped me improve on several transferrable skills such as teamwork, leadership and research. Most importantly, however, I have learned to appreciate the individuality of everyone’s career path and the importance of self-reflection in a successful career.

Alis Ugur (Honours Student LLB)

I would strongly encourage future international students to apply to have a mentor as they provide you with guidance and advice. A mentor offers valuable guidance and support based on their own experiences. They can help you navigate challenges and obstacles by sharing their insights and knowledge, enabling you to make more informed decisions. As a university student, I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to do after university and being under this mentorship programme provided me with some direction and, more importantly, perspective.
