About the event

The Ethnographic Drawing workshop invites participants to explore drawing as a powerful tool for observation, analysis, and representation in ethnographic research. Through hands-on exercises, participants will engage in a process of drawing one another and focusing on specific details, with minimal instruction to encourage personal interpretation and creativity. The workshop highlights the importance of observation as a learnt skill and challenges conventional notions of who can "draw" by demonstrating how different practices make sense for different individuals. Participants will reflect on their drawings, analysing their observations and learning to see beyond the surface. The session concludes by examining how drawing can be used in research and the broader implications of its use as a methodological tool.
