Train to teach at the University of Bristol - find out about teaching Religious Education (RE) in secondary school

Our PGCE programmes for secondary teaching here at the University of Bristol are rated 'Outstanding' in the most recent Ofsted review. The PGCE is demanding and hands-on, but you’ll be supported and guided to become an excellent qualified teacher, opening up a wealth of career possibilities.

Why not think about becoming an RE teacher?

Training to be a teacher can offer you an exciting and interesting career path, and there are many reasons to train to teach:

  • Inspire others
  • Make a difference
  • Change the future of education practice
  • Work within a community of educators
  • Challenge yourself
  • Explore exciting opportunities and employability
  • Gain master’s credits

You do not need to be of any specific faith to teach RE. Your students will learn about all faiths and religions, and world views. You will have the opportunity to go on placements in local schools, so you can experience first hand learning in a real-world setting.

The School of Education's PGCE Programme Lead Teresa Griffiths will discuss Initial Teacher Education at the University of Bristol, and will answer any questions you may have, and share insights on training to teach.
