This one-day Creative Methodologies seminar brings together doctoral researchers, academics and creatives to showcase, discuss and share an understanding of using creative methodologies and arts -based methods in research. It will raise the challenges and opportunities that creative methodologies and arts-based methods offer for interrogating current educational social challenges. This event will also provoke thinking about what creative methodologies can and can’t do as an approach, what knowledge and data is generated from these approaches and the ethical considerations needed to work using creative methodologies and arts-based methods.

Be prepared to participate also in a creative session that will allow for an immersive hands-on experience of using an arts-based method. This will bring to life the experiences of using and developing a creative approach for research. Throughout the day participants will be encouraged to reflexively engage – drawing attention to their own experiences (embodied and affective) of research and the potential that creative ways of knowing the world offer. This will be an important part of reflecting and advancing ideas raised in the seminar. Please bring your own creative tools (markers, coloured pencils, markers etc.) and lets have fun!
