Our field of research is growing. It looks like there is increasing interest in higher education research with e.g. new journals emerging and existing journals becoming more voluminous. But growth does not necessarily mean quality. I will present findings from recent studies to argue that our field continues to be fragmented in several respects. No need to despair, however. I will discuss a number of potential strategies to ameliorate the situation.
