Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are some of the most vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. They are living at ‘the Sharp End’. When countries around the world come together in Glasgow to address climate change at the 26th Conference of Parties (COP) in November of this year, the people living in SIDS hope that these vital negotiations will stimulate realistic, context-sensitive and urgent progress towards realising the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

In this Pre-COP virtual event, the Education in Small States Research Group (ESSRG) brings together locally held priorities from the three main regions of SIDS on the resilience, adaptation, and capacity building needed to mitigate climate change at a local level.  The event brings into conversation voices from the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and the Pacific on the impact of climate change on SIDS, and ways to protect the environment and preserve our planet for the future. Through this event, we voice our key messages for the forthcoming COP26 deliberations.
