The Bristol Doctoral College, with support from the Careers Service and the Global Engagement Division, has developed two video series focused on the postgraduate research (PGR) student journey.

A recent project led by the Bristol Doctoral College, with support from the Careers Service and the Global Engagement Division, has developed two video series focused on the postgraduate research (PGR) student journey. From starting out and navigating the application process to the diverse careers our alumni have gone on to pursue, the videos aim to increase transparency around the PGR experience and highlight the opportunities provided by a PhD.

The first series, Applying for a PhD: top tips from our postgraduate researchers, features current PhD students sharing their candid tips for those thinking of pursuing a PhD; covering topics such as how to approach potential supervisors, getting support with applications and exploring funding options.

The second, How my PhD has shaped my career path, celebrates the impressive diversity of careers a PhD can lead to outside of academia. Stories from across a range of disciplines showcase how the skills and expertise gained during a postgraduate research degree helped shape each alumnus’ career.

Get inspired and find out more about the PGR journey. Watch both series on the University of Bristol YouTube.
