Financial Reporting and Business Communication Conference 2024

We are pleased to announce the 27th annual Financial Reporting and Business Communication (FRBC) conference organised by the University of Bristol and the Financial Accounting and Reporting Special Interest Group of the British Accounting and Finance Association.
The FRBC conference is one of the premier conferences of its kind worldwide and it attracts an international and highly engaged audience. The conference comprises sessions with full papers with discussants, developmental paper sessions and a doctoral stream.

The conference addresses key areas of accounting and financial reporting, which are of interest to accounting academics and practitioners. These include, but are not limited to:
- The role and limitations of the corporate annual report
- The effectiveness of financial reporting standards
- Accounting measurement and disclosure
- Sustainability, integrated and environmental reporting
- The composition and format of corporate reports and the role of the visual
- Corporate reporting and accountability in the public sector
- The effectiveness of narrative and textual information in corporate reporting
- The role of financial reporting and governance mechanisms in capital markets
- Historical perspectives on financial accounting and reporting

Registration steps
- Step 1: To register you need to first register as a BAFA member here on the BAFA website.
- Step 2: You will find the 27th FRBC Conference in the Events (top right on the User dashboard page), and click on to register.
PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT need to be a BAFA member to submit a paper to one of our conferences or events. However, you will need to be a member to present at or attend one of our conferences.
Submissions
Papers, full or developmental (up to 7,000 words), are invited on the above-mentioned topics or on other aspects of financial reporting and business communication. Papers may take empirical, theoretical and/or conceptual approaches, including case studies or experiments. Papers (please mark as FULL or DEVELOPMENTAL paper) should be submitted by email to frbc-conference2024@bristol.ac.uk. The submission deadline is 30th April 2024.
For doctoral students wishing to present in the doctoral stream, a structured abstract of up to 1,000 words should be submitted. A Sue Hrasky Scholarship is available for the 2024 conference to doctoral students in the doctoral stream. This comprises a doctoral fee waiver, receipted travel within the UK to the conference, subsistence and accommodation costs related to the conference. All submissions by doctoral students will be considered for the scholarship. The award of the scholarship will be communicated via email. Abstracts (please mark as DOCTORAL) should be submitted by emailing frbc-conference2024@bristol.ac.uk. The submission deadline is 30th April 2024.

Getting to FRBC 2024
The nearest train station is Bristol Temple Meads. The nearest airport is Bristol Airport. Regular buses run from Bristol airport to the city of Bristol.
For some international travel, you may need to fly into London Heathrow airport. Using the Heathrow Express, you can travel directly to London Paddington, from where there are regular trains to and from Bristol Temple Meads. Information on train times is available on the National Rail website.
