Megabase genome repair

Synthetic biology offers exciting possibilites to create new and highly efficient CRISPR-based DNA delivery systems, for repairing errors causing genetic disease with basepair precision in cells, tissues and organisms.

Through this project we aim to create and roll-out a novel, high-potential tool-kit capable of efficiently carrying out bona fide genome engineering by delivering large and very large DNAs to not only edit but also repair genomic aberrations, to accelerate and enable basic and applied research towards therapeutic intervention.

Project lead: Professor Imre Berger (multigene delivery)

Project team: Professor Mark Dillingham (DNA break repair) and Professor Christiane Schaffitzel (ribosome display)
