Subject Editorial Boards and Abstract Submissions
The BILT Student Research Journal provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain practical, professional experience in academic publishing through joining the Editorial Board. The Editorial Board receive training and guidance in academic editing and publishing practices, as well as developing key skills in project management, publicity, publishing, and editing.
Applications for the 2024/25 Editorial Boards have closed. You can still fill in the form to express your interest in being on an Editorial Board next academic year (2025/26).
The BILT Student Research Journal is built on an ethos of collaboration, creating a culture of pride and value in exceptional undergraduate research, and encouraging the engagement of students as co-producers and facilitators of their own work. The Subject Editorial Boards are essential to this, carrying out a rigorous peer-review process and providing critical, lively feedback.

Abstract Submission
We're making some great changes! This year, we're introducing a Special Section on "Interdisciplinary Research for the Future" and offering more topics for participation in the journal. We are now calling all UG, PGT students and recent graduates who are passionate in academic research to get your academic research papers published! Deputy Editor-in-Chief
The Deputy Editor-in-Chief position is the most senior student position available. You will directly report to the Editor-in-Chief. Your responsibilities include: 1. Assist the Editor-in-Chief in communications, promotions, and management; 2. Organise Meetings with Editorial Boards of Different Subjects; 3. Oversee the development of the full journal and the magazine. This role is best suited to PGT and PGR students.
Copy Editors
Copy Editors are responsible for the design and the call for the artwork of the full journal and the magazine. We encourage all UG, PGT, and PGR students with backgrounds or experiences in artwork, design, or marketing to get involved.
Subject Editor
Subject Editors are responsible for the whole process of each subject. You will directly report to the Editor-in-Chief and Deputy Editor-in-Chief. For your subject, you need to lead the Editorial Board, organise the call for papers, and oversee the peer review process. Owing to the responsibility and experience needed for this role, this role is best suited to students in your third year and above.
Deputy Subject Editor
Deputy Subject Editors take on roles for your subject board in agreement with the subject editor and assist in the peer review process. Number of Deputy Editors is dependent on the size of the Subject Editorial Board. This role is best suited to students in the third year and above, owing to the responsibility and experience needed for the role.
Peer Reviewer
Peer Reviewers are members of the Subject Editorial Board. You can review of articles submitted, suggest improvements and decide which submissions will be published. You may also need to help the Subject Editors and Deputy Editors establish guidelines for submissions in your subject.
