Student Research Festival
The Student Research Festival is a one-day event highlighting the best of student-created research, featuring presentations, debates and networking sessions. This is an opportunity for students at the University of Bristol to present research findings in an academic conference setting, enriching their university experience and enhancing their employability skills.
Student Research Festival 2025
This year's festival took place on Thursday 30 January 2025 in the Global Lounge; showcasing Bristol’s vibrant learning environment, the calibre of student research, and the unwavering commitment of both University staff and students to research-enriched learning and teaching.
This year's theme, 'Impact, Innovation, and Ethics,' invited students from undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and postgraduate research programs to present their findings in concise 10-minute talks. This theme not only encouraged engaging discourse on significant contemporary challenges but also promoted a deeper understanding of the ethical dimensions of innovation and research.
A review of the event will be posted here in due course.
To celebrate excellence in research communication, prizes were awarded for the best presentations within each theme area, including a grand prize of £100 and a runner-up award of £50. Join us in advancing the conversation around impactful research and celebrate the talented individuals who are shaping the future of academia.
Student Research Festival 2024
The fourth annual Student Research Festival took place on Thursday the 25th of April 2024, hosted in the Global Lounge.
This year the theme was 'Conflict & Resolution.' Presenters approached this theme with remarkable diversity, reflecting both the expansive scope of research fostered at the University of Bristol and the array of perspectives within our learning community. Have a look at some of Research Project titles here or visit our digital gallery.
The day also featured a compelling keynote address by Professor Annela Seddon, a Q&A session regarding research and the proliferation of AI with Dr Aisling Tierney, as well as a networking session where we were joined by representatives from Bristol’s Social Science Review, the Cabot Institute, and Bristol University Press.
