Bristol Entrepreneurs' Pledge

The Bristol Entrepreneurs' Pledge is an exciting new opportunity for alumni and friends to pledge a gift to support the University of Bristol and help us support the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Students, alumni and friends are invited to ‘pay it forward’ and pledge a philanthropic gift as an aspirational intent for the future. The pledge is non-binding but allows you to build philanthropic giving into your future and encourage others to do the same.

Rupert Baker (MEng 2007), who was awarded £20,000 from the University’s New Enterprise Competition for his startup TeamUp, is the first to donate through the Bristol Entrepreneurs' Pledge. TeamUp, which makes management software for gyms and sports clubs and was recently sold to DaySmart Software, is among the many successful startups to come out of the University of Bristol.

Recent start-up successes to come out of Bristol also include PEEQUAL, who have developed the UK’s first women’s urinal; Ultraleap, which allows users to touch virtual objects and raised £60 million in its most recent funding round, and Ziylo which is developing a new treatment for people with diabetes and was sold in 2018 for $800 million.

The University of Bristol has an outstanding record of nurturing student enterprise and providing resource and space for student and graduate start-ups. As we prepare for the opening of the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus in 2026, the Bristol Entrepreneurs' Pledge presents an exciting opportunity for us to do even more to support entrepreneurial talent and build on our thriving community of Bristol innovators.

You can also pledge to support other activity at the University, whether it be student scholarships, campus projects or our world-leading research.

By donating to the Bristol Entrepreneurs' Pledge, you are joining an exciting new initiative to help fund the next generation of students, entrepreneurs and researchers and supporting future activity.

How you can help

To find out how you can pledge a gift and ‘pay it forward’, contact Cath Bees, Senior Philanthropy Manager: cathryn.bees@bristol.ac.uk

The funding we received for PEEQUAL has been a catalyst in turning our idea into a reality. We’re using that support to build something that will change the course of the future. A big thank you to those who support students and innovation projects at Bristol.

Amber, Co-Founder of PEEQUAL
