Children of the 90s researcher involved in new €10m research project

Professor Debbie Lawlor

Press release issued: 6 September 2016

Congratulations to Professor Debbie Lawlor, who runs the Focus on Mothers and COCO90s (Children of the Children of the 90s) studies at Children of the 90s (ALSPAC); she is a co-investigator and work package lead on a new Horizon 2020 award: LIFECYCLE.

The aim of LIFECYCLE is to establish the EuroCHILD Cohort Network, which will bring together existing, successful pregnancy and child cohorts and biobanks, including Children of the 90s and Born in Bradford (BiB).

It will use harmonised data from the EuroCHILD Cohort Network to test causal effects of early life stressors, related to socio-economic, migration, urban environment and life-style determinants, on the development of cardio-metabolic, respiratory and mental health trajectories during the full lifecycle.

Dr Abigail Fraser, Dr Laura Howe and Professor Kate Tilling are key collaborators from Bristol and Professor Vincent Jaddoe from the Erasmus Medical Centre in the Netherlands is the overall principal investigator.

The full award is €10 million, which is shared between 18 partners, with Bristol receiving €764,000.
