Award of Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professorship

Award of Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professorship to Capt. Joe Hibbeln of NIAAA, NIH. Dietary habits and mental health outcomes - Spring 2020, working with Jean Golding, Jon Heron and Yaz Iles-Caven.

Captain Joe Hibbelm of National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) will visit the UK in April for a 3 month period, after being awared a Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professorship. NIAAA areas of research focus include clinical treatment and prevention trials in alcoholism, substance abuse disorders, postpartum depression, suicide, and violence. Other areas of interest include lipid biochemistry, epidemiology and public health policy.   He is a primary collaborator in the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children, Bristol, UK, examining the residual effect of nutritional insufficiencies in pregnancy in childhood neurodevelopmental outcomes and relevant gene-nutrient interactions.  Capt. Hibbeln will be working alongside Professor Jean Golding and her team.  Whilst in Bristol he will give a range of lectures -dates to be confirmed.
