Find out which University services are open and where to get support. This page will be updated for every Easter, summer and Christmas holiday period.

Student Services

Closes on: Thursday 28 March, 8 pm.

Reopens on: Wednesday 3 April, 9 am.

Careers Service

5 Tyndall Avenue and the live chat function

Open: Monday 25 March to Thursday 28 March, 1:30 to 4:30 pm.

Closed: Friday 28 March to Tuesday 2 April.

Open: Wednesday 3 April to Friday 12 April, 1:30 to 4:30 pm (not Saturday 6 and Sunday 7). 

Global Lounge

Closes on: Friday 29 March.

Reopens on: Wednesday 3 April.

The space is available for everyone to enjoy with comfy sofas, books, board games, free tea, coffee and biscuits. Come and relax with friends or come on your own and get to know the friendly Global Lounge team and ambassadors.

Health and wellbeing

The Wellbeing service

Closed: Friday 29 March.

Reopens on: Wednesday 3 April.

Whilst the university is open, you may request wellbeing support by completing a Request Wellbeing Support form. As we approach the Spring break it is likely that the available appointments may already be booked up and the soonest available appointment will be in April. 

If you submit a form whilst the service is closed, it may not be reviewed until after the break and you will be offered support as soon as possible after that.

Emergency support and the following services will still be available:

  • Call NHS 111 for non-emergency medical advice 
  • Call 116 123 for the Samaritans
  • Your GP (check opening times).

Disability Services

Closes on: Thursday 28 March from 4 pm.

Reopens on: Wednesday 3 April at 10 am. 

Students' Health Service

Closes on: Thursday 28 March, 8 pm.

Reopens on: Wednesday 3 April.

IT support

Out-of-hours helpline:

0117 428 2100.

The IT Counter is located in the Arts and Social Sciences Library.

Closes on: Thursday 28 March, 5 pm.

Reopens on: Wednesday 3 April, 9 am.

During the break, IT Services’ self-service site will be available if you need to raise an issue or request. Please note that tickets will not be picked up during the closure dates.

The Laptop and Mobile Clinic 

Closes on: Monday 25 March

Reopens on Monday 15 April.

Library Services 

On Friday 29 March, Monday 1 April and Tuesday 2 April, some libraries and study centres will be closed.

Multifaith Chaplaincy

The Multifaith Chaplaincy offers a warm thank you to all who visited our centre this past term. We have lots of fun new events planned in the coming year along with our usual weekly events. Hope to see you soon.

For spiritual and pastoral support over the Spring break period, please feel welcome to contact our team of chaplains.

Residential Life

The Residential Life team will continue to operate 24/7 throughout the break. You can contact a Residential Life Advisor on +44 (0)117 428 3300 (option 2).

The team are also running fun events and activities open to all students, including those living in private accommodation.

Security Services

University Security Services operate 24 hours a day across campus.

In case of an emergency, phone 999 to contact the emergency services first, including police and ambulance. After calling 999, if there is an emergency on campus you can go to Royal Fort Lodge and ring the buzzer, or phone +44 (0)117 33 11223

Sport, exercise, and health

If you’re looking for something active to do over the holidays, we have a range of activities available, including:

  • swimming sessions at the University pool
  • indoor and outdoor courts and pitches 
  • full programme of studio fitness classes.

All other dates during the spring vacation is as per normal opening hours - Weekdays, 8am-10pm and Weekends, 9am-6pm. 

Study skills

Study Skills drop-ins 

Drop-ins will run on a reduced timetable in the Study Skills Hub at Senate House (floor 2), 12 to 2 pm.

Reduced hours begin on: Monday March 25

Closes on: Friday March 29.

Reopens for reduced hours on: Wednesday 3 April.

Usual hours resume on: April 15.

The hub is not open on weekends. 

One-to-one tutorials will also be running both in-person and online subject to availability. Our online resources are available to access all year round via the study skills website, and students can contact us at study-skills@bristol.ac.uk.
