The School for Policy Studies offers a range of different funding sources available to apply for. These include doctoral training pathways and University-funded scholarships.

Chevening

Chevening Scholarships enable outstanding emerging leaders from all over the world to pursue one-year master’s degrees in the UK. Whilst there is no ‘typical’ Chevening Scholar, we are looking for the kind of people who have the passion, ideas, and influence to provide the solutions and leadership needed to create a better future.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a Chevening Scholarship you need to:

  • be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country;
  • have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry to a postgraduate programme at a UK university;
  • have minimum of two years’ work experience.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship programme is one of three Master’s programmes offered by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission.

Postgraduate scholarships for applicants from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries. Funded jointly by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) and participating UK universities.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must have applied for one of the eligible one-year taught postgraduate programmes at the University of Bristol.

How to apply

You must apply using the Commonwealth Commission's online application system. As part of the application, you will be asked how your inclusion on the programme will benefit your home country.

Deadline

Applications for Commonwealth Shared Scholarships for the 2024/25 academic year are now open. The deadline for submitting an application is 16:00 GMT on Thursday 14 December 2023. The scholarships are for study in the UK beginning in September/October 2024.

Sanctuary 

Sanctuary Scholarship is funding for students from asylum-seeking and refugee communities. The scholarship is equivalent to a full tuition fee waiver and a full living cost stipend.

Eligibility

You can apply if you:

  • are from a refugee or asylum-seeking community
  • hold an academic offer (or are awaiting a decision) to study an eligible course at the University of Bristol.

Think Big Scholarship

Think Big Scholarship applications for 2024 are now open.

Our international scholarships could help you fund your UK study at the University of Bristol. We've invested up to £3 million in Think Big scholarships to help international students come to Bristol in 2024.

These scholarships are for applicants with overseas fee status who have applied for an eligible undergraduate or master's course.
