SPO wins £20K from Enhancing Research Culture fund

25 October 2023

Award will extend the Exploratory Facilities Fund to benefit early career researchers

We are delighted to announce that the SPO has secured a £20,000 award from the 2023-24 Enhancing Research Culture fund. This award enables us to extend the SPO Exploratory Facilities Fund (EFF) for an additional year.

This initiative primarily benefits early career researchers and career changers, providing them with a valuable platform to carry out research using facilities in Science and Engineering.

We will build upon the success of the 22-23 fund, which supported more than 30 exploratory analyses, resulting in the publication of research papers and the successful acquisition of additional grant funding.

Details on how to apply for the 23-24 EFF will be provided later in the year.

Further information

The Exploratory Facility Fund (EFF) is a funding pool designed to support researchers who lack the funds to explore emerging project ideas in expensive TRAC facilities. In particular we look to support ideas from Early Career Researchers (ECRs) and individuals returning from career breaks. Note that this funding is intended to bridge the financial gap for new projects requiring facility time rather than for existing projects with funding gaps.
