Student teams impress industry experts in a competition addressing real-world challenges

The Science Partnership Office congratulates all our participating Faculty of Science students who took part in the first Aegis Professor Undergraduate Competition (APUC).

APUC was launched by the SPO in 2023 and supported by our Aegis Professors and the Faculty of Science student societies. Undergraduate students from across the Faculty of Science worked in multidisciplinary teams to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges. The challenge briefs were set by our Aegis Professors and academics in the Faculty.

The teams worked on the challenge over the summer, and on 27 September the competition concluded in a fantastic celebration event. An afternoon of presentations and posters was enjoyed by the Aegis Professors, academics and students, with everyone hugely impressed by the scope and standard of work the students had put in.

All the teams have been awarded experience days at the Aegis Professors' organisations, and special congratulations to Team 1 who scooped the top prize of £5000!
