Our remit
As a specialised software development team our remit has to be focussed. There are certain services that we are not able to provide, but where this is the case we will always endeavour to offer advice and direct you to the appropriate team.
What we do
We provide support for your research proposal through:
- Technical guidance and consultancy
- Data management plans
- Application expertise/experience
- Detailed costing for our services
- Assisting with proposal applications
We offer bespoke one-off software development for:
- Web and mobile applications
- Data visualisations (such as interactive 3D models)
- Complex and custom design websites
- Prototypes for projects
We offer other technical support including:
- Database development
- Sysadmin support
- Funded and post funding project maintenance
What we don't do
There are certain things that our remit does not cover:
- We do not customise UoB themed Bristol Blogs websites. See more information about hosting your project website via Bristol blogs.
- We do not assist with the purchase or installation of existing software. Contact the IT business partners.
- We do not provide data storage. This service is provided by the Advanced Computing Research Centre.
- We can provide advice and consultancy, but we are not a teaching resource and do not provide software training.
- We do not provide advice on monetising an idea. If you are interested in this then please contact the Research and Enterprise Division.
- We do not provide data archiving. This service is provided by the Advanced Computing Research Centre.
- We do not provide high-performance computing. This service is provided by the Advanced Computing Research Centre.
- We do not develop complex survey tools. This University of Bristol uses JISC and REDcap for it's online surveys.
