What would you like to do next? My current plan is to stay with LV for the near future – opportunities are great in the team, and my goal is to reach senior level this year. 

How did your degree prepare you for this job? Mathematical problem solving/reasoning skills are directly applicable to the role, and ability to read research literature is also useful for staying up to date with the latest techniques. 

What did you enjoy most about your time studying at the School of Mathematics? I’m someone who enjoys solving problems, and getting into the ‘deep work’ state where you’re highly focused on one problem for an extended period of time. Naturally mathematics provided many opportunities for this, and luckily my current role does also! 

Do you have any advice or tips for prospective students looking to study Maths at Bristol? Study units you will enjoy – but also think about which ones will add extra value to employers, e.g. courses that include; statistics, group work, presenting, coding. 

Why did you decide to apply for your course at Bristol? I’ve always enjoyed mathematics, so it was the natural degree for me to take. Having also grown up fairly near Bristol I knew I liked the city, so it seemed like the best choice!
